Ozora College, which is one of the career options for students after graduating from Ozora High School, has a partnership with Kindai University’s Correspondence Education Department to support them in becoming independent members of society. As part of our practical education, we collaborate with companies within the KTC Group to provide internship work (part-time work for students).
In October 2023, a KTC Group joint sales event (jointly operated by multiple services) was held at a shopping mall in Minato Ward, Nagoya City, and two college students participated in internship work. They are Takuki Sakai (first year college student) and Futa Kato Hinata (second year college student) from the Nagoya campus. We interviewed the two of them immediately after participating in the internship work.
What is Ozora College
? A career path only for Ozora high school students. One of the career options after graduating from Ozora High School. Students who go on to Ozora College also enroll in Kindai University Correspondence Education Department (in the case of childcare course, Kinki University Kyushu Junior College Childcare Department). While receiving support to graduate from a correspondence university, she aims to become the adult she wants to be through internship work at a company within the KTC Group and taking open courses.
Our philosophy is to help students acquire the skills to survive in a rapidly changing society, and we focus on practical education. Through future practical studies (business communication course x internship work) classes, students develop business skills to become independent adults who can function in society. We support children to grow into independent members of society and become the adults they want to become.

Takuki Sakai (1st year student at Nagoya Campus College)
Q. Please tell me your impressions of today’s internship work.
-I was in charge of customer service and games at the event booth. I had a lot of fun interacting with a variety of people, from children to the elderly. Although it was difficult, I feel that it was a fruitful time.
We emphasized the importance of “speak loudly” so that it can be heard even in a busy shopping mall, and “stand close to the child.” It was difficult to always speak out loud and smile all the time, so I kept being conscious of it. There were times when I kept raising my voice and thought, “My throat hurts,” but I thought, “It’s my job, so I’ll do my best,” and I got through it. I believe that accomplishing what I set out to do will benefit me.
Q. Were the classes at Ozora College useful? Did you learn anything during your internship?
-It was my first part-time job, so I didn’t know what to do at first, but I worked on it while remembering what I learned at college. I was able to realize the importance of smiling and nodding when listening to what I learned in the business communication course. It was a continuous process of learning new things at events and instantly outputting them in my own way. I learned a lot from everything.
Q. I worked together with KTC Group’s sales staff. I had a relationship with a senior member of society, how was it?
-The staff members are very energetic and I can tell that they are genuinely enjoying their work. I was advised that since I would be doing business in a shopping mall, I needed a lively and fun atmosphere. I was able to have fun with my customers as well.
Q. How do you want to make use of this experience? Do you have an image of the adult you want to become?
―This was my first experience of receiving money for my labor, and it led to a tremendous amount of growth. I feel that the experience of interacting with people has also benefited me. I would like to use it when talking with friends and people around me in the future.
The ideal adult is someone who can help each other. There may be times when I’m just being helped, but I want to be a person who can still give back to others through my actions. I would like to use this experience to get closer to becoming my ideal adult.

Mr. Hinata Kato (Nagoya Campus College 2nd year student)
Q. What led you to participate in this internship?
-I’ve been working part-time at a toy store for about four years, but I thought it was time to try a new part-time job. At that time, I learned about internship work and decided to participate, thinking that I could gain new professional experience.
Q. Please tell me your impressions of today’s internship work.
-I was assigned the role of looking after a child while I was having a business meeting with a customer. I played with the kids at the Super Bowl and played games, and it was a lot of fun. In my usual part-time job, I was serving adults, so working with children was a new experience. As I gained more experience, I felt that the way I interacted with children was gradually changing.
We also made balloon art together with the staff. Everyone taught me carefully and I was able to learn balloon art techniques. There were some works that were completed well, like a model, and it was a day where I was able to do more.
Q. Is there anything you learned from participating that you would like to use in the future?
– I felt like I could update “how to deal with children.” Even in my regular part-time job, I was conscious of trying to keep eye contact with the children. However, since I only had a moment to interact with the child, all I had to do was bend down. After spending so much time working with children this time, I realized the need to bend my knees, lower my hips, and “maintain eye contact with children.”
I thought the staff’s sense of distance with customers was amazing. I was surprised to see that they were calling out not only to customers passing by the event booth, but also to people walking in the distance, in a bright and loud voice. I’m not good at calling out to others or inviting them in. I couldn’t think of any lines to say to customers, so I kept reusing three patterns. In the future, I would like to be able to speak “loudly and confidently” with customers.
Q. Please tell us about your future vision and the adult you want to become.
-I want to be a person with a fun and friendly atmosphere that I can enjoy with children. I may be similar to the rest of the staff in that I am someone who is emotionally close to the other person. I felt that this was the ideal way to work, as I was naturally enjoying my time there and was still getting the job done.

Baton message from Kana Iwasawa , in charge of accepting internships at Ozora College
(Clean Energy Business)
During my internship this time, coaches from Ozora College (at Ozora College, teachers are called coaches) also came to check on the students, and there were scenes where I felt a strong sense of connection and collaboration within the KTC Group. did. As I talked with the coach, I realized that I was entrusted with a very important and wonderful student, and I was relieved.
Some of the students who participated were working for the first time, but since they were always cheerful and easy to talk to, I think they were able to interact well with the children. They took our advice seriously, and I could see that their ability to respond to them was steadily improving. Thank you very much for supporting us. thank you. I hope that you will be able to communicate with people of all ages and types through your internship work. I would be happy if you could remember various ways to interact with others.
